Midlothian Centenary Lunch

The lunch is on Saturday 24th January 2009 in the Roxburghe Hotel Edinburgh.
The cost for the meal and drinks is £35.
Your club rep has a copy of the menu and will be collecting your payment.
Hope you will be able to go to the lunch and join in the celebration of 100 years of County golf.

Greensomes League

Six clubs took part in the new greensomes matches. They were enjoyed by all who played.
The league was won by Deer Park with 7 match points. Prestonfield was second with 6 match points (10 games) and Ratho Park was third with 6 match points ( 7 games).

If your club would like to take part next year, please enter by 12th October.

Commonwealth Spoons

This was played today at Torwoodlea Golf Club. The event was won by a pair from Midlothian, Suzanne Ireland ( Prestonfield) and Diane Moncrieff( Lochend).Their net 74 beat two other couples on the same score with a better inward half. Well done, Suzanne and Diane.

Junior girls squad

The girls re-started their monthly coaching at the Braids driving range today. It was a lovely sunny morning. They were working hard on learning more about the short game.
Sally Naysmith ( Dalmahoy) has joined the squad.
Congratulations to the girls who have been asked to join the Scottish squads for 2008/2009. More details later.

This was played today at Ratho Park Golf Club. The weather was dry with some sunshine. The girls enjoyed their golf and there were some good scores.

Hannah Scott won the trophy for the biggest handicap reduction this year. ( 22 to 13)
Kate McIntosh won the hole and hole competition.
Sally Naysmith won the handicap competition and Emma Morrison won the no-handicap competition at the Princes course. ( Played monthly from February till August)

East of Scotland Girls Autumn meeting

This was played at Balbirnie Park Golf Club on Sunday 7th September.
Gillian Simpson ( Murrayfield) won the scratch with 79.
Sally Naysmith ( Dalmahoy) won the handicap with 103(32) net 71.

Midlothian Champion of Champions


The last match was played at Royal Burgess Golf Course on Sunday 7th September. Liz was 3 up at the 11th but Linda squared the match at the 14th and went into a one hole lead at 16th. Liz then birdied the 18th to square the match again. Liz won with a great birdie at 3rd extra hole. Linda's birdie putt sat at the edge of the hole.

Liz Stewart is the Midlothian Champion of Champions for 2008.

Junior Championship and prizegiving

These are at Ratho park golf club on Sunday 14th September.
The Championship starts at 12 noon.
The prizegiving will follow at approximately 4.15pm.
The prize giving is for the girls who have played on the Princes course and in the knock out competitions. Hope you can all come along.

Autumn meeting at Turnhouse Golf Course on Monday 8th September

The SSS for Turnhouse is 73 and the CSS for the autumn meeting was 73.

Congratulations to Rachael Watton ( Mortonhall) on winning the championship. She beat Gabrielle MacDonald ( Craigielaw) in the final. The losing semifinalists were Nicki Taylor and Gillian Simpson. The matches were played at Craigmillar Park Golf Club.
