MCLGA Vice Captain

Unfortunately Caroline McIntosh has had to step down as Midlothian Vice Captain. Her work commitments have changed and as such she is not in the position to give the commitment to the County that is required of a Captain. I would like to thank Caroline for all her work and support over the past 14 months and I know how disappointed she is at having to step down. She would have made a fantastic County Captain and I am sure she will go on to fulfill this position sometime in the future.

I am however delighted to inform you that Sheila Stuart (Turnhouse) had kindly accepted my nomination as Vice Captain and the MCLGA Committee has approved Sheila's appointment with immediate effect. The appointment will be formally ratified at the next committee meeting at the end of February.

Thank you Sheila for agreeing to take over at such short notice, and I know you will be as asset to the County. I also know the County members will fully support you.

Annual Subscriptions

Have you paid your annual subscription? Just a wee reminder that this is due by 31 January. If you have not paid by 31 January and you have not resigned from the County, there will be a £5 administration charge. So look out those letters and get your forms back to Hilary ASAP!

County Countdown to Curtis Cup

Update from Anne Brownie our Curtis Cup Ambassador:

The countdown to the Curtis Cup in Nairn from 8th to 10th June this year reached its “19 weeks to go” mark with the announcement of the GB&I Squad on today. Two Scots, Pamela Pretswell and Kelsey MacDonald, have been named in this preliminary Squad, which contains many exciting young players whose fine shotmaking skills will be well worth watching over the Nairn Links.

An enthusiastic and vociferous home support would help boost our team’s chances of success vs the USA. It is hoped that many Midlothian members will head north to watch some Curtis Cup action. If you are thinking of going and would like to be kept in touch with other County travelling support or possible group transport plans, please note your interest as follows:

Email Anne Brownie (MCLGA’s Curtis Cup Ambassador) on her dedicated Curtis Cup email address - golfanneatic@gmail.com.

Further updates will follow on MCLGA’s Web and Facebook sites or via your Club reps.

January 9 holes at Swanston

The 2012 season is underway. 13 girls plus the usual band of parents and helpers braved the cold at Swanston on Sunday for 9 holes. The course was pretty frozen when we started and for many of the girls, using mats was a new experience, and so were some of the bounces! But despite the cold it quite pleasant due to the lack of wind which I must admit was very unusual for this winter. Thanks to all who helped, especially Karen Marshall, Kate McIntosh and Hannah Scott. We are off and running!
