February 9 holes at Swanston

Thirteen girls, supported by the usual gathering of parents and MCLGA squad members Linda Bain and Wendy Nicholson, braved the cold at Swanston to get our new season off to a great start. This was the first month of our 9 hole league which runs through to August. Newcomers and junior training squad members Eilidh Crawford (Harburn) and Kirsty Burgess (Silverknowes) demonstrated that they may well be the ones to beat this year, with nett scores of 25 and 27 respectively over the 9 hole Templar Course. Emma Watson was close behind on 28.

In the non-handicap section, Caitlin Turner shot a great 47 and Megan Brown 48

Have you got prize vouchers to spend?

For all you prize winners from last year, just to remind you that your vouchers need to be used by June 2011 at the latest. You can use the SGU vouchers in your Pro Shop or with our sponsors The Ladies Golf Centre in Haymarket - www.golfing-lady.com . John Lewis also accept official SGU vouchers as do the Under Armour shop in Haymarket Terrace who have a dedicated ladies section. So get spending and if you dont want to use them, your MCLGA captain will be happy to spend them for you!

Karen Marshall appointed as team captain

Congratulations to Karen Marshall who has been appointed as Team Captain for the European Girls' Team Championships in Sardinia in July and the Girls' Home Internationals over Gullane 2 in August (2nd - 4th). We know she will do a fab job! And girls, those of you in our Midlothian Junior Training Squad - think how lucky you are to be managed by none other than the Scotland Team Captain! Start working towards those targets I know you are all setting after the recent seminars and put the August dates in your diary now to go and watch some great golf at Gullane with Captain Karen. We are sure some of our Midlothian girls will be in the team.

Junior Coaching at the Braids

The 9.30 and 10.30 coaching sessions at the Braids Driving Range for February to June 2011 are now full. Spaces are still available for the 11.30 sessions.
