Scottish Girls Champion

Congratulations Hannah!

Hannah Darling, Broomieknowe GC,  played fabulous golf today to become the 2017 Girls Champion.  She had six birdies and an eagle in the 36 hole final with Jillian Farrell, Cardross GC, who had nine birdies over the two rounds. Hannah finished the first round 1 up and started the second round in a rush to gain a 5 up lead by the 26th hole.   Jillian mounted a strong comeback and had reduced Hannah's lead to 1 by the 13th in the second round with a shot that hit the flag and rested about 6 inches from the hole.  They halved the 14th then Hannah gained one back with a birdie at the par 3 15th.  She gained another at the 16th with a tremendous eagle to beat Jillian's birdie.   Hannah was two up going down the 17th but her win was held up by a birdie from Jillian. She sealed the match with a birdie on the 18th.  This was  tremendous display of golf  that included four holed chips from off the green in the last two days.
Well done Hannah and thank you for all the hard work you have put in over the last two years or so.  Thanks too to your parents and your coach, Ian Muir, for the support they have given you.

It has been a great week for Midlothian

Last Wednesday -  we won the East Inter County Qualifier to win a place at the Scottish County Finals at Glenbervie from 15 -17th September.

Last Friday - Fiona DeVries, Baberton GC, won the Scottish Seniors Championship at Rosemount, Blairgowrie.

This Wednesday - Hannah Darling, Broomieknowe GC, won the Scottish Girls Championship.

I'm off to bed feeling very proud to be a member of MCLGA.

Scottish Girls Amateur Championship.

Hannah Darling has reached the final of this competition beating Louise Duncan, from West Kilbride Golf Club.  The competition has been played at Drumoig GC and Scotscraig GC since last Friday.  Hannah went there after playing a positive role in the County's win at the Inter County Qualifier
at Stirling from Monday to Wednesday last week.

Hannah has also been selected to represent Scotland in Oslo at a European Junior Masters Tournament in the summer.   In September she will go with another 5 Scottish Juniors to be part of the hand over ceremony at the Solheim Cup in De Moines, USA.

I am sure, like me, you are very proud of Hannah who is having a very successful time at the moment and doing Midlothian proud.

Our Junior section is making great progress under the leadership of Sharon MacPherson, Sarah Ledingham and Sue Cowie and will be competing in the East of Scotland Junior Championship at Bathgate GC next week.  Good luck.
