3rd Day of Scottish Amateur Girls Championship

Another beautiful day for the final day of strokeplay for both flights due to yesterday being cancelled.

Emma Morrison from Craigmillar park was not far behind the leaders today in the scratch flight coming in with +3. So near and but for a wayward shot into the trees she may have been up there . Well played Emma.
Hazel McGarvie from Troon was this years Champion after a playoff  ending on the first where she got an eagle!

Midlothian's Georgia Ledingham from Craigmillar Park won the salver for the best nett score with a 66. Hannah Darling from Broomieknowe came 2nd equal with a 69 and Carys Irvine from Craigielaw came 4th equal with 72. Well done girls . Brilliant show from all you birthday girls.

2nd Day of the Scottish Girls Amateur Championship

Play was suspended before play today due to the thunder and lightening. Then cancelled altogether due to rain around 11.30.

This means the result will decided on one day of strokeplay tomorrow.

Another good reason to keep it to 4 days. Girls very disappointed as they were really looking forward to the matchplay.

Play commences at 08.30 tomorrow and last tee time for net play is 10.50.

Scottish Amateur Girls Championship

On a sweltering day yesterday at Baberton our girls did us proud. Emma Morrison from Craigmillar Park qualified for the Matchplay stages of the Scottsh girls amateur open. Hannah Darling (Broomieknowe), Georgia Ledingham (Craigmillar Park), Lisa McPherson (Baberton), Carys Irvine (Craigielaw) and Jessica Walker (Mortonhall) are all playing in the net matchplay . Well done to all of you and the very best of luck today.
Eilidh Crawford from Baberton had a fantastic first round of 73 gross but sadly succomed to the heat in the afternoon round.
Play was suspended this morning due to thethunder and lightening.

Not sure which is worse the heat of yesterday or the rain of today. I think Scottish golf should definately have left it as a four day competition. I do hope that none of our juniors feel they will not compete again due to having the 36 hole strokeplay. Really hard on the younger players that they are trying to encourage. Please think again Scottish Golf for next year.

County Final - Caddies

Scottish County Finals

After a very convincing win in the Jamboree at Mortonhall GC in June, the County team are heading to Aboyne GC, Aberdeenshire.  The Scottish County Finals will be held from Friday 16th until Sunday 18th September and once again I am inviting MCLGA members to volunteer to caddy.  Our members have a great record of supporting the team in this manner and I know it is much appreciated.  Midlothian has a great record in this competition - playing in 9 finals since 2005 and winning 4 times.

Scottish Seniors

Sorry its belated as have been away.

Well done to our Fiona de Vries on coming second in the Scottish Amateur Seniors this year with a total of 157. She got through to the quarter finals of the matchplay where she lost by one hole.
Well done to Sheena Wood from Aberdeen Ladies who was the overall winner.

Scottish Girls Amateur Championsip at Baberton this year from 19th to 21st July

The very best of luck to 9 of our juniors next week when they play in the Scottish Girls at Baberton starting on Tuesday 19th.
Taking part are Emma Morrison, Eilidh Crawford who recently won the East of Scotland, Carys Irvine (runner up in the East of Scotland), Megan Linton, Hannah Darling, Lucy Morrison,Jessica Walker, Lisa McPherson and Georgia Ledingham. Emma Morrison is the first of the girls out at 09.20.
Hope some of you can make it to watch. Two rounds are played on the first day.

East of Scotland Girls Championship

Double delight for Eilidh at Prestonfield Golf Club

Eilidh Crawford from Kingsfield Golf Club won both the Stephen Gallacher Trophy for the leading qualifier and then went on to win Championship by beating Carys Irvine (Craigielaw) by 2 and 1 in the final.

In the stroke play event Eilidh won the Scratch with a 78, Carys Irvine won the best under 16 nett 75  82 - 7 and Emily Rigg won the under 18 with a nett 71 87- 16.

East of Scotland Vets Champion

We would like to congratulate Jennifer Bryans from Harburn Golf Club for successfully winning the East of Scotland Vets Championship yesterday at Haddington Golf Club.  She will now represent the East of Scotland Vets at the Inter-Divisional Championship at Blairgowrie in September.

Jennifer beat Barbara Biggart from North Berwick GC 4&2 who was the leading qualifier.
