East Lothian win Inter County matches

Day 3 of the InterCouty matches dawned bright but chilly. We were up against the, so far unbeaten, East Lothian on their home turf.

In the morning foursomes our girls fought hard against strong opposition and came in at lunchtime 2-1 down.
In the afternoon singles there were some interesting draws.  Karen Marshall took an early lead against East Lothian's Mary Lou Watkins and the other matches were fairly even on the first half. By the turn it looked as though we could have pulled off a win but East Lothian proved too steady on a course that punished those not on the fairway.
New comer Alison McBride and Kirsten Blackwood fought valiently in the last 2 matches out, but the day was concluded with a 51/2 - 21/2 win for East Lothian securing their place as the East of Scotland Champions for 2014.

Our team,as always gave of their all and although disappointed to lose after holding the Championship for the past 7 years, they can be proud of their performance. They played excellent golf and many matches were much closer than the score suggests. It is perhaps inappropriate to single out any individual but special mention has to be made of rookie, Harburn's Alison Mcbride who played outstanding and steady golf all week seriously challenging Stirling and Clackmannanshire and former Curtis Cup player, Alison (Rose) Davidson in her singles match.

Thanks to our team for their unwavering support and to all those of our members who gave of their time to act as caddies for our girls.

Inter County Matches Day 2

Today we were up against Stirling and Clackmannanshire.
At lunchtime we were 2-1 down in the foursomes and we faced an uphill struggle in the afternoon singles.
We won 3 of the matches  convincingly. However we struggled against steady opposition in the other  4 and were finally defeated by 5 matches to 4.

Tomorrow we are up against so unbeaten East Lothian who today had a convincing 6.5 to 2.5 win against Stirling and Clackmannanshire.

Inter County Matches Day 1

This year's Inter County matches got underway at North Berwick today.

Midlothian lost to Fife who have always been a tough call.  Today Fife emerged the winners by          5 1/2 matches to 3 1/2.

East of Scotland Championship 2014

The East of Scotland Championship is being held at Falkirk Tryst Golf Club on Sunday 7 October 2014. This competition is open to all members of Counties in the East of Scotland (Including Midlothian).

Scottish Schools Championship

Midlothian junior team members, Emily Dalgetty, Eilidh Crawford and Emma Morrison  are competing in the Paul Lawrie Foundation Scottish Schools Championship at Murrayshall on Monday.

Scottish Cap for Gabrielle

Congratualtions to newly crowned Scottish Amateur Champion, Gabrielle MacDonald (Criagielaw) who has been selected to represent Scotland in the European Ladies Team Championship from 8th -12th July in Slovenia.

Scottish Girls (close) Amateur Championship 2014

A reminder that the Scottish Girls' Amateur Championship is being held at Dumfries and County Golf Club from 15th - 19th July (practice day 14th) and is open to all girls under 18 on 1/1/14 who have a handicap of 34 or less.
Entry fee is £25 and entries close on 16th June.

As well as the main Championship there are net prizes and age category prizes and it is a great opportunity to play and gain experience from girls from other Scottish Counties,
