Congratulations to Rachel Watton on winning the individual title at the Sun Belt Conference Womens Championship and helping her Denver University team clinch the team title.  She has also been named Sun Belt Conference freshman of the year

Spring Meeting

The Spring Meeting got underway a bit later than planned yesterday afterva delay for frost! (Is it not Spring?). However, it stayed dry if not a bit chilly, especially later on in the day. Most found the course quite challenging and there were a few tales of woe to tell. The results were as follows: CSS 71

Cuthbertson Cup

Congratulations to our junior team on reaching the Cuthbertson Cup final today. The girls played some great golf and fought really hard right to the end. But they were up against a really strong East Lothian side who deserved to retain the Cuthbertson Cup today.

In the morning we played Stirling and Clackmannshire. Hannah Scott led from the front with a 7&5 win over Catherine Goodwin. The rest of the team were struggling a little, but a gritty comeback from Jessica Dalgetty secured a second point. Kirsty Burgess and Emily Dalgetty fought hard to reach the 17th and 16th respectively to build on Hannah's impressive win, thus ensuring a clear points victory.

The final was always going to be a big challenge. Hannah played extremely well to take Lesley Atkins to the 17th, but Lesley was playing some superb golf. Emily had a real ding dong battle with Clara Young, loosing eventually on the 17th. Jessica and Kirsty both showed some real fighting spirit but again East Lothian were just too strong.

The games were played in fantastic spirit and the girls all gained valuable experience. We will be back to fight hard again next year - older and wiser!

North Berwick Outing

After the weather of yesterday, Captain spent last night making contingency plans for today's junior outing to North Berwick. But amazingly there was no rain in sight and 13 girls enjoyed a fun filled day of golf and some good chat and food in the clubhouse afterwards.

Junior Spring Meeting

The Junior Spring meeting held at Liberton Golf Club today. Thirteen girls took part in the handicap competition, and six in the 8 hole, non-handicap competition which was followed by a 9 hole putting competition. Thankfully the weather was not as bad as originally forecast as the President started the girls off on the first tee. Some great golf was played and some new names are on our trophies.

Thanks to President Janet, VC Sheila, Liz Taylor and Sharon MacPherson for all their help today and to Liberton Golf Club for once again hosting this event.

CURTIS CUP AWARENESS DAY

MCLGA is holding a Curtis Cup Awareness Day alongside the Spring Meeting at Glencorse GC on Monday 16th April. Whether or not you’re thinking of going up to Nairn for one or more days between 8-10 June to support the GB&I Team, do drop by our Curtis Cup table before or after your round. Check out the informative DVD and find out more on this year’s match versus the USA team.

Midlothian girls on top at Falkirk Tryst

Congratulations to Emma Morrison (Craigmillar Park) and Hannah Scott (Broomieknowe) who won the handicap and scratch prizes respectively at the East of Scotland Spring Meeting at Falkirk Tryst today.

Emma shot a nett 63 - 81 (18) 63 and Hannah a gross 71.
Kate McIntosh (Broomieknowe) won the best under 21 nett prize 75 (2) 73 (bih)

This is the juinor inter-county competition which is played on one day. In the morning singles Midlothian will play Stirling & Clackmannanshire and East Lothian play Fife. The winners will play each other in the afternoon, again in singles ties, and the others playing foursomes to determine 3rd and 4th place. The morning matches start at 9.30 am and the afternoon matches at 2.30 pm. Support for the girls would be greatly appreciated - its not too far - a nice wee trip along the coast to North Berwick!

Midlothian v Lanarkshire

Another lovely day today for our annual match against Lanarkshire Ladies. The match was played at Baberton over a slightly altered course due to the imminent building of a new clubhouse. Some great golf was on display and the match was a very friendly half (2-2). The juniors won both their matches - well done girls, and had the added excitement of meeting Curtis Cup player Pamela Pretswell. Congratulations to Kate McIntosh who had a hole in one at the 17th!
